Hillary, The Truth-Teller

It appears that the Clintons have worked their magic once again -- bringing the fractious Right together with just a few unusually honest words from Senator Hillary Clinton while appearing in California, promoting Bill's new book:

Headlining an appearance with other Democratic women senators on behalf of Sen. Barbara Boxer, who is up for re-election this year, Hillary Clinton told several hundred supporters – some of whom had ponied up as much as $10,000 to attend – to expect to lose some of the tax cuts passed by President Bush if Democrats win the White House and control of Congress.

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you," Sen. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Beautiful. If anyone ever had any doubts about the arrogance of the Left, all you need to do is read that quote. Senator Clinton defines your money as something given to you. After all, we're not talking government grants -- she's referring to income earned by taxpayers that the government isn't taking away.

Remember this when Democrats talk about supporting the middle class. What they mean is that they see the middle class as a vast welfare class that the government grants the privilege of keeping part of what they earn, as everything rightfully belongs to the state anyway. The percentage is a mere detail.
