Ever The Gentleman

Hugh Hewitt talks about the first book-signing appearance for his new book, Blog: Understanding the Information Reformation That's Changing Your World, held in the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Orange, CA last night. I alerted my mother, who occasionally posts comments here as Vayapaso, about Hugh's appearance and told her to get a signed copy of the book. Hugh himself talks about meeting the bloggers at the event:

A couple of blogger/authors dropped by my book signing tonight which made it great fun: Bill Whittle of Eject, Eject, Eject (and author of the critically acclaimed Silent America --which may be the first entirely blog-derived book, and which proves, I think, that publishers have a huge gold mine in front of them packaging the best of the blogopshere between covers for easy transport. MarkDRoberts also stopped by to wish Blog well. As did einvolved's Stacey Harp, Kicking Over My Traces, and Dr. Y and the wonderful Sofia. (But I can't find your blog, Doc. Please send me the URL.) And, best of all, Captain Ed's mom!

Meeting Hugh certainly made Mom's night, too. She called me on my cell phone while I had dinner last night with my sister -- who picked the coldest weekend in a year to visit Minneapolis from LA -- to bubble over with delight about the reception Hugh and his staff gave her at the book-signing. They couldn't have been more gracious, and the bloggers and blogfans in line with her made her feel like a celebrity in her own right with their outpouring of friendship. Thanks to everyone who made this a memorable night for Mom, especially Hugh.

Don't forget to buy Hugh's book, either! For Twin City fans, I believe Hugh will have a book-signing event on Saturday, February 12th after his appearance at the Patriot forum on the 10th. Buy one copy now for a gift, and buy another one on the 12th for a signed copy to keep.

UPDATE: Radioblogger has the picture of my mom with Hugh. She called me Eddie when she talked with Hugh, which means an endless stream of grief over my name from the Lord High Commissioner and the Generalissimo ...
