NARN, The Unfairness Doctrine Edition

The Northern Alliance Radio Network will be on the air today, with our six-hour-long broadcast schedule starting at 11 am CT. The first two hours features Power Line’s John Hinderaker and Chad and Brian from Fraters Libertas. Mitch and I hit the airwaves for the second shift from 1-3 pm CT, and King Banaian and Michael Broadkorb have The Final Word from 3-5. If you’re in the Twin Cities, you can hear us on AM 1280 The Patriot, or on the station’s Internet stream if you’re outside of the broadcast area.
Today Mitch and I will unpack the argument from CAP that says government should impose fairness standards on talk radio and ownership of broadcast licenses, as well as look at the status of the immigration bill, the CIA’s family jewels, the fallout from Hamas’ coup in Gaza, and lots more.
Be sure to call 651-289-4488 to join the conversation!

  1. Ed,
I think you almost have to give a disclaimer. The reappearance of the Fairness Doctrine would be absolutely great for Blog Talk Radio. Bad for 1280AM–ThePatriot, but great for your weekday job. Your own briar patch. 🙂

  2. Captain, I guess this is where they also argue that the Constitution of the USA also MANDATES the DEMOCRAT Party and SOCIALISM have INALIENABLE RIGHTS to at least HALF if NOT ALL the POWER in the USA GOVT???
I’ve seen folks argue that if one party, THE DEMOCRAT party, fails and collapses, then our GOVERNMENT IS FAILED.
They even got some canidates on the ballots ILLEGALLY in 2002 with that argument – THAT THE CHECK AND BALANCE SYSTEM IN AMERICAN GOVT IS THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM???
EXCUSE ME – BUT THAT IS THE JOB OF THE THREE BRANCHES AND IS TOO HEAVY FOR ANY TWO LEGGED STOOL TO SUPPORT.
Parties have come and gone, many of our Presidents didn’t even HAVE a Party affiliation, in the early years.
But that we depend on the Democrat Party for our National survival???
But that isn’t what George Washington said in his Farewell Address. And it isn’t what ANY of our Founding Fathers said.
According to THEM, THE PEOPLE have the RIGHT TO CHOOSE – WHICH MEANS WE ALSO HAVE THE RIGHT TO REJECT any political philosophy.
NO POLITICAL PARTY HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL US WHAT WE MUST LISTEN TO.
The Right to Free Speech is one thing – THE RIGHT TO A CAPTIVE AUDIENCE IS NOT AMERICAN – THAT is STALINISM AND KIDNAPPING!

  3. [chirp chirp chirping of crickets]
Is that all there is??? on the issue of The Fairness Doctrine???
I hope all the folks are out having a nice time dancing – they must be all out dancing.
That would be lovely – dancing before they have to report for duty and armor up for battle.

  4. I’ve read the CAP “report”. According to them, KFI AM 640 in Los Angeles has 13 hours per day of “conservative” radio and 0 of “progressive” programming. This despite 4 hours of Bill Handel’s #1 show in the morning, where he bashes Bush on every conceivable issue.
He’s exactly the sort of “local” issue-oriented programming they’re claiming Clear Channel et al. have buried.
If they miss the #1 local host in the #2 market, who else is passed over?
