Blog Notes

Just a few notes to bring everyone up to date at the behind-the-scenes machinations at CQ ...

First, the lower output this weekend is due to the Christmas shopping season and an opportunity to babysit the Little Admiral. Instead of watching Papa sit behind his computer, we decorated the Christmas tree (somehow, it's inexplicably become "Gamma's Tree" this year), watched "Finding Nemo", and played with her Little Peoples toys. I love blogging, but that beats writing every time, which I'm sure CQ readers understand.

Speaking of the Little Admiral, she performed in her very first show this week, a Christmas recital her day-care center put on. I have video and hope to post a capture later tonight of her singing ...

I'd like to welcome a new sponsor aboard CQ. I'm very grateful to all of my sponsors -- please patronize them as much as possible! -- but today Kevin McCullough joined CQ's premium sponsorship. I met Kevin at the Republican Convention and have had the pleasure of appearing on his radio show several times since. He's a great guy with a sharp perspective on current affairs, and I'm honored by his sponsorship. Be sure to tune him in if you're in the Tri-State Area, or make his blog a regular stop in the blogosphere ...

Voting in the 2004 Weblog Awards is almost closed, and I'm amazed that I have accrued almost a third of all the votes in the Best Conservative Blog category, especially given the competition in this area. I hope that CQ readers have found the wealth of new options in the blogosphere that these awards reveal. I haven't posted my list of recommendations, mostly because I have more than one friend in most categories, but I would urge you to cast a vote for Patterico in his category. It's a razor-thin margin, and Patterico has long been a friend of CQ. Your assistance today could put him over the top!

Finally, I'd also urge you to contribute to the Friends of Iraq Blogger Challenge at Spirit of America, a great charity that allows US servicemen and women to win the hearts and minds of Iraqis through positive interactions, like sports and entertainment. The Northern Alliance squad has raised over $11,000 and leads the team competition, but we'd like to catch Charles's LGF efforts for the overall lead. In this competition, fortunately, everyone wins!

More later tonight ...

» Vote for Me and Thanks to Captain Ed from Patterico's Pontifications
Today is the last day of voting in the Weblog Awards. I am behind by fewer than 40 votes out of over 7300 cast. You can vote for me here. I'd like to thank Captain Ed for today's endorsement. Given... [Read More]
