Hospiblogging, Day 2, Part 2: All Quiet

I arrived here about an hour ago from work, after checking in with the nurses from my office. They told me that the First Mate spent some time sitting up and stretching out and that her blood sugars have been terrific. However, by the time I got out here -- after having walked a roommate through a minor housekeeping emergency back at the house -- Marcia mostly wants to sleep. So I'm sitting in the room, taking a few minutes to work on a column offered to me by a national publication and just keeping an eye on her.

She's looking better every time I see her, and she's been conversing with me today. She's not strong enough to take phone calls and she doesn't want visitors at all besides me, but she responds well to my jokes (she's the only one who laughs at them anyway) and she wants me here even if she's asleep.

More later!

UPDATE, 9:30 pm CT: I just got home from the hospital, where the First Mate is still resting comfortably. The pancreas function is still excellent, and the prognosis still looks very good. She mostly slept while I worked on my article. I'm still working on it now, so I will sign off and wish you all good night.
