Choosy Social Cons Choose Rudy

According to Pew Research and the Politico, a significant part of Rudy Giuliani's national polling lead comes from conservatives at odds with his domestic policy views. Rudy gets 30% of the social conservatives in the GOP, a factor which keeps him in the lead over John McCain, who gets only 19% of that bloc. What does that tell us about the Republican primary voter base? Has pragmatism won out over ideology, or is there an overriding ideology that commands that support? At Heading Right, I take a look at some of those dynamics and propose my own analysis.

So abandoning a few principles for the sake of retaining power, is that the conclusion for the political theocrats of the Republican party?

Captain, you lost me at "According to Pew Research and the Politico."

You cannot expect us to take any theory put forward by the Politico seriously in light of their performance in last month's debate.

Seriously, Captain, this is the same old WaPo "Macca" gang posting on-line.

Is it not pragmatism that leads any Democrat to back Hillary?

It ain't pragmatism or "CHOOSINESS" that would make any "social conservative" support Giuliani - and it sure wasn't any view of him accepting an award for his part in the 9/11 cleanup, in which he volunteered to let the voters set aside a Constitutional and properly validated election "if they really want him" - back in 2002 - with a flagrant disregard of our Constitution I thought only likely from such as Bill Clinton, which was stunningly breath-taking to watch Giuliani take a full two weeks to do a DIM-style mumble jumble SADLY PATHETIC PASS for an apology to the public, ALSO on international TV...

Any persons who succeed in election Giuliani the egomaniac to any office is going to get all they deserve, and then some.
And they'll deserve it richly for voting for such a multiple adulterer.

ALL the warning signs are there. Drive off that well-marked washed-out bridge if you think it will get you anywhere!
