Barack's The Man, Keeping Hillary Down

One has to marvel at the sheer chutzpah of Bill Clinton. He told a Sparks, Nevada audience that the establishment candidate in the Democratic presidential primary race is the one who has served a grand total of three years in national office, instead of the one who claims her husband's eight years as President as her resume:

Bill Clinton, who carried Nevada in two general elections, urged voters Tuesday to buck labor endorsements for Sen. Barack Obama and support his wife in Saturday's hotly contested presidential caucuses as the only Democratic candidate with the experience necessary to change the country.

The former president trumpeted New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's accomplishments while painting Obama as the "establishment" candidate who would bring only the "feeling of change."

"One candidate says you should vote for me because I've not been involved at all in the struggles of the past and therefore we need to turn over a new leaf and (try) something absolutely new. And if you want the feeling of change, then that is the person you should support," Clinton said in a 75-minute speech to about 300 people in a YMCA gymnasium.

"The other candidate says vote for me because I spent a lifetime making change, raising hopes and fulfilling dreams for other people," he said about the former first lady.

Er ... what? Is she identifying herself as an agent of change on the basis of working inside the Beltway for the last fifteen years? Hillary claims the experience of the biggest Establishment office there is, the White House. A candidate can't get more Establishment than that. She has more than twice as much time in the Senate as Obama, too.

Not only that, but the Democratic Leadership Conference has been the harbor of the Clintons since 1991. That's the party's Establishment, the high-level coordinating group that attempted to stop the grassroots push to the Left during the Reagan and Bush 41 years. And the Clintons got into that group based on his years as the governor of Arkansas, another Establishment position.

The Clintons are the Democratic Establishment. Any suggestion otherwise is a threadbare lie. It once again shows how the Clintons like to manipulate voters and try to pander shamelessly at every opportunity. (via The Anchoress, who has more thoughts on this.)

Boy, the Clintons better win this race and become President, as the mountains of credibility and legacy they’ve built up over the last two decades is being burned through pretty damn fast in their race to stay even. Via Captain’s Quarters,... [Read More]
