Time to Set the TiVo

Power Line's Hindrocket lets us know that he will be appearing on the Twin Cities' PBS program, "Face to Face", which is a Minnesota Nice version of Crossfire. The program airs this Sunday at 10:30 am and the panel reviews the credibility of politicians. [You can get a half-hour discussion out of that? Well, he is a lawyer ...] He's already taped the segment and notes: I think the show will be pretty good, although, in these half-hour formats, there's a limit to how much you can do. I tried to work in two or three facts that many people don't know--like the cyanide block found in the al Qaeda safe house in Baghdad, and President Bush's 1972 Air National Guard evaluation. I'll post a review of the show later on Sunday. If you're in the area, make sure you tune in. UPDATE: Apparently, Power Line's had a busy week...

Hindrocket on Face to Face

Hindrocket of Power Line appeared this morning on Face to Face, a local PBS show that owes its format to CNN's Crossfire. Today's topic: credibility issues with politicians, focusing on Bush and Kerry. Joining Hindrocket was Buck Humphrey, a Kerry campaign activist. I may be biased -- hell, I am biased -- but Hindrocket came across extremely well, while Buck Humphrey couldn't look anyone in the eye during most of his answers, looking askance or downward almost the entire time. Hindrocket had excellent answers at the ready -- his answer to co-host David Lillehaug about the cyanide-salts find in Baghdad shut that thread down immediately. Hindrocket scored a direct hit on Kerry's hypocrisy, using the Majumder corruption case as an example, and Humphrey stumbled trying to change the subject to an irrelevant assertion that Kerry never took PAC money. (I'd like to think that John used the entry from my...

Airheads, Continued

We are seven days away from the launch of the Northern Alliance Radio "Network" show here in Minnesota, and we're all gathering at the studio for a dry run today, as almost all of us have never worked in radio before. The folks at AM 1280 The Patriot have been very hospitable in allowing us to descend on them today and will be teaching us the equiment and the timing of hosting a talk show. Next Saturday, we will be going live on the air here in the Twin Cities (pray for their inhabitants, the poor souls) from noon to 3 PM. The group of us, who can be found in my blogroll on the left -- the only place you'll find them on the left, by the way -- are still ironing out format and scheduling. We hope to eventually have a live streaming Internet link through The Patriot's...

Airheads Poised On The Brink

We're almost exactly 24 hours away from the debut of the Northern Alliance radio show on AM 1280 The Patriot here in the Twin Cities. Mitch Berg will play center and moderate the three-hour talkathon; I'll be on in the first hour tomorrow, discussing events from the past week and interacting with callers. I'll join Saint Paul of Fraters Libertas and Hindrocket from Power Line. Mitch has the rest of the schedule on this post, and I may duck back in for a segment during the last hour, depending on availability (and whether I have anything intelligent to say). If you're in the broadcast area, make sure you tune in to The Patriot for the launch, and call in. For those outside of the Twin Cities, we're hoping to get a streaming service for the show very soon. Keep checking at the Northern Alliance site for more news and information....

Northern Alliance Radio: Live Blogging!

We're a little over an hour from the start of the Northern Alliance Radio show here in the Twin Cities, and as I said earlier, I will be live-blogging during the second and third hours, complete with digital photographs of the gang. Keep checking back on this post! 12:01 - We're all getting settled into the booth. First segment: Mitch, Hindrocket, Saint Paul, and myself ... 12:07 - Our first topic was graffiti in public restrooms -- yeah, we're rolling, baby! ... 12:16 - Out to our first break, after discussing John Kerry and the "inept" accusation. When we come out of our break, we'll have our first caller on the line ... 12:26 - James Lileks is our first caller, and talks about Kerry's assertion of starving the troops of equipment -- he reminds us of Black Hawk Down ... 12:46 - We've taken three callers, and the last...

A Few Notes From The First Show

I've just returned home from the first Northern Alliance Radio show's wrap party at the Rocket Man's house, and I wanted to make sure I closed the loop on some of your comments and questions, as well as thank a few people. First, thank you for your comments on the post. When we get a little better at this, we'll take the e-mails on the air just like callers, like Hugh and Michael Medved do. Right now it's all we can do to chew gum and walk at the same time. (Talk radio with Gerald Ford -- now there's a concept.) A couple of people asked about live internet streaming, and I can tell you that we all want that, including the station, but it will likely be an expensive proposition and they'll want to sell some advertising first. I think we proved today that we have a product, and...

Northern Alliance Radio: Live Blogging!

Once again, we gasbags bloggers of the Northern Alliance march bravely down to AM 1280 The Patriot to do our weekly radio show. We're trying to find a streaming service that won't charge us an arm and a leg for a three-hour stint once a week (most of them charge a flat monthly rate based on 24-hour-a-day usage), so that you can tune in, turn on, and drop in. With any luck, in a couple of weeks, we'll be live on the Internet. Until then, I'll be live-blogging again today, where we'll be discussing topics such as John Kerry's accusations against Bush and the Republicans, the Madrid bombing and what it might mean for the war on terror, the launch of the liberal radio network AirAmerica, our weekly Hack Columnist of the Week in the Twin Cities, and JB Doubtless and I will debate the artistic merits of Mel Gibson's...

Northern Alliance Radio: Big-Time Guests Today!

It's Saturday, so it must be time for another installment of the Northern Alliance Radio Network! Today we have two fascinating guests: Kenneth R. Timmerman and Thomas Lipsomb. Timmerman wrote the fascinating book, The French Betrayal of America, which I have just started -- my Reagan book will have to wait, I'm afraid. Lipscomb has reported on John Kerry's involvement in the Phoenix Project, an assassination plot that targeted pro-war American politicians in a 1971 meeting, which Kerry at first categorically denied and then was forced to recant after contemporaneous FBI reports placed him there. If you're in our listening area, make sure you tune into AM 1280 The Patriot from noon to 3 PM today!...

Shot In The Dark Back From The Darkness

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Mitch Berg's fine site, Shot In The Dark, had its ISP disappear out from underneath him yesterday -- and it took his domain name with it, at least temporarily. His site can be accessed at http://www.shotinthedark.info ... be sure to update your blogrolls and bookmarks!...

Northern Alliance Radio On the Air Today!

It's Saturday, so it's time for another installment of the Northern Alliance Radio Network. Unfortunately, I won't be there today -- I have a prior commitment at an Irish-language workshop. (I've got to post on that later on ...) The rest of the gang will be there, reviewing the week's news stories, interviewing important guests, and dissecting the local media. Be sure to tune in if you're in the area....

I Did Stay At A Holiday Inn Express

If you're listening to Mark Larson filling in for Hugh Hewitt, just an FYI -- none of the Northern Alliance are college students. I'm the father of a college student, and King at SCSU Scholars is a college professor, but none of us are students, to my knowledge. I wouldn't mind being the oldest freshman on campus, though. I watched "Old School" with Will Farrell and Luke Wilson. I could handle that whole wrestling scene. Fraternities should contact me as soon as possible for party scheduling ......

Stealing Air: Filling In For Hugh

As most of you already know, the Northern Alliance of Blogs stepped in for Hugh Hewitt as he went on a top-secret mission at one of our nation's fine military colleges, the Naval Academy at Annapolis. (We're not entirely sure about this mission, but the Elder claims that he has the goods, complete with pictures.) The Northern Alliance took over Hugh's show on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, driving his listeners to consider Dead-Air America as their back-up radio choice in the event Hugh takes any more time off -- even though they were playing Marcel Marceau's Greatest Hits (Dance Remix Version) all night Wednesday in LA. I can't tell you how much fun it is to be in a radio studio with terrific guys like the Elder and JB from Fraters Libertas, King Banian from SCSU Scholars, and Big Trunk and Hindrocket (who was unfortunately out of town for...

Northern Alliance Special Guest Today!

Today, on the Northern Alliance Radio Network show (heard on AM 1280 The Patriot in the Twin Cities, and soon on the Internet to the world!), we have a special in-studio guest for our third hour. The Fraters Libertas gang has lined up Mike Nelson of Mystery Science Theater 3000, who has graciously agreed to sit in with our line-up of fanboys. Because the Captain lost the coin-flip (and allegedly too closely resembles Dr. Clayton Forrester), I'll be banished to the Green Room during the third hour. So I will be live photoblogging Mike Nelson's visit on this post -- keep checking back during the show (12-3 CT) for updates! We will also be fortunate to have as call-in guests during the second hour Yale professor Charles Hill on John Kerry as a literary character, and Doug Tice from our local newspaper, the St. Paul Pioneer Press. If you're in...

Northern Alliance Radio Debates Bad Music

It's Saturday and time for another installment of the Northern Alliance Radio Network, from noon to 3 pm CT. In the third hour today, we will be debating which pop songs represent the worst of pop music, an argument that started with Blender Magazine's 50 Worst Songs of All Time (complete list here). Blender, however, demonstrated its complete ineptitude by including such songs as "Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel and "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg. Even if you don't particularly like those songs, you can't argue that they're the 42nd and 30th worst songs of all time! Here's my list of songs which I will be taking to the AM 1280 The Patriot studio in a few minutes, in no particular order except at #1, which is the worst song of all time, bar none: 1. I've Never Been To Me - Charlene 2. 99 Luftballoons - Nena 3....

Northern Alliance Radio: Our Investors Don't Panic

Don't forget that the Northern Alliance Radio Network will be broadcast in the Twin Cities this afternoon, as usual on Saturdays, between noon and 3 PM. I suspect that one topic we may indulge will be a little Schadenfranken over the continuing debacle over at Err America. As the Chicago Tribune reported yesterday, more ra -- er, people seem to be deserting the sinking ship while others insist on rearranging the deck furniture: In yet another sign of trouble for Air America Radio, the liberal talk network's co-founder and chairman, Evan Cohen, resigned Thursday along with his investment partner and vice chairman, Rex Sorensen. The company also failed to make its scheduled payroll Wednesday, leaving its staff of roughly 100 writers and producers unpaid until Thursday. ... "We're on a wild ride," said Jon Sinton, the network's president, acknowledging that Air America has suffered "the typical bumps and bruises faced...

Northern Alliance Radio Needs A New Logo - Obviously

As I've mentioned already in the Caption Contest post, the Northern Alliance Radio Network is holding a contest for a new logo. The guys at Fraters Libertas has already blogged about the contest, in a post accurately titled, "Our Logo Blows Contest". Here's the current blow-worthy logo that NARN has struggled under: Mitch Berg cooked up the logo by spending three minutes in Microsoft Paint, which as Mitch notes in his post on the subject, was three minutes more than any of us bothered to spend on the idea. However, we were more than happy to spend lots of minutes trying to determine the meaning of the logo. Did it point north? Was it a wedgie? (The studios get pretty rough when the Fraters guys are around, after all.) Did it represent us as pointy-headed intellectuals? We do have two lawyers and an economics professor on board. Saint Paul at...

Northern Alliance Radio On The Air For Hugh Hewitt!

The Northern Alliance Radio Network will fill in for Hugh Hewitt on his radio show tonight -- meaning we get to go national again! Almost everyone from NARN will be in studio for tonight's show, and we'll rotate through in order to get as many people on the air as possible. I'll be on in the first hour, when we have Kathryn Jean Lopez from NRO and Frank Gaffney scheduled as guests. If you don't get Hugh's show in your market, get the Internet feed from KTKZ in Sacramento! If you want some background on Hugh, however, check out the Elder's comprehensive biography of the Lord High Commissioner of the Blogosphere. I didn't realize Hugh fought in the Battle of the Big Birds ... UPDATE: As always, guest-hosting Hugh's show was a complete blast! Kathryn Jean Lopez and Frank Gaffney are regular Tuesday guests on the show, and they were...

Northern Alliance Radio Network Updates

The Northern Alliance Radio Network logo contest is almost closed now -- we're picking the finalists right now, and shortly will post the five logos we like best. We'd like our readers to cast their vote for the best logo to represent the Northern Alliance. We'll post them up at our radio-show site in the next few days, so keep checking in to get a look at the fantastic graphics that we've received. Quite frankly, we're stunned at the quantity and the quality of the submissions! Big thanks to everyone who participated. Also, on today's show, we were fortunate enough to have Stephen Hayes, the author of The Connection: How al Qaeda's Collaboration with Saddam Hussein Has Endangered America. Stephen gave our listeners terrific insight into the breadth of connections into Saddam's involvement with AQ and terrorism in general, which the media used to report as gospel but changed their...

Calling All Upper Midwest Bloggers ...

If you're a blogger in Minnesota (or anywhere within driving distance of the Twin Cities), we really should get together sometime. There are a lot of cool people writing blogs - or even just reading them - in the Upper Midwest, and we should definitely try to meet sometime. So the Northern Alliance is throwing a shindig - a non-political, ecumenical one - for bloggers in the area, and we'd like all you bloggers to be there! Here's the deal: We'd like to meet at Keegan's Irish Pub in Northeast Minneapolis, on Saturday, July 24, at 5PM. We'd like to spend a few hours hanging out, meeting other bloggers, and just having some fun. Cash bar? The whole place IS a cash bar! By the way - this is not a "Northern Alliance" event, just a random social thang. Interested in being there? We'd love to get a headcount. Please...

Northern Alliance Close To Streaming Deal

For those of you who have not been in the Twin Cities area during one of our Saturday afternoon Northern Alliance Radio Network shows on AM 1280 The Patriot, we may have good news in the next few days for you. We have started negotiations with a sponsor to pay the cost to retransmit our show over Internet streaming, meaning that the NARN will be heard worldwide in a short period of time. We will all announce this as soon as the deal materializes and the streaming service contract is signed. In other NARN news, we have a couple of key dates coming up. Next Saturday, July 24th, we're calling all bloggers to meet us at Keegan's, a Minneapolis pub often patronized by the Fraters Libertas gang, at 5 PM. We want to meet all of our fellow Upper Midwest bloggers, regardless of political affiliation. If you can make it,...

Meet The Whole Northern Alliance Gang Tonight!

One more reminder for everyone about tonight's social hour with the Northern Alliance at Keegans, tonight at 5 pm in Minneapolis! If you're a blogger, a blog reader, or even someone who's reading this because someone played a joke on you, you're invited. It doesn't matter what your political affiliation is -- so I expect to see Miles and Arne there ... right, guys? Let me put it to you this way -- if you keep me occupied there, I can't be here converting liberals to conservatism, can I? Can you resist that challenge? Come on by and meet the crew. Let's take an evening off and have a few laughs together. When you see me walking this afternoon, I guarantee the first chuckle....

Northern Alliance Get-Together A Rousing Success!

The first Northern Alliance social get-together at Keegan's Pub in Minneapolis was an absolute blast! We were fortunate enough to have James Lileks join us and the rest of the Twin Cities blogging community this evening. I got to meet Jay Reding, DC from Brainstorming, as well as some great CQ readers such as Pinkmonkeybird and Don. I met Dave from Dave's Picks for the first time -- he's one of the original Twin Cities bloggers, and he and I kept the bar from falling down for a while. Thorley Winston from Tacitus was there, as well as the Warrior Princess, whose link escapes me at the moment. I couldn't stay long -- the back was killing me -- but I did get some pictures, which I will post later. I'm probably going to take the rest of the evening off to rest it. Don't forget that next week we'll...

Hugh Hewitt's Site Down, Will Return Momentarily

The Lord High Commissioner of the Blogosphere, Hugh Hewitt, has experienced some technical difficulties this afternoon and his site is down. I'm assured that his crack technical staff is already working on the solution and will resolve the problem very soon, so keep checking back. In the meantime -- you should buy his book! UPDATE: It's back up!...

Northern Alliance -- Live Streaming To The World!

Tomorrow marks two big firsts for the Northern Alliance Radio Network -- our first live remote and our launch of Internet streaming! (It requires IE 6.0 to work ...) Yes, for the first time, people around the world will be able to hear the Northern Alliance show live. We've promised it for months, and thanks to the Minnesota Taxpayer's League, it's finally here. We'll be appearing live at The Estates At Diamond Bluff, which has sponsored the First Annual Patriot Picnic, where we'll hopefully get lots of audience participation. I know the Fraters guys have something special cooked up for the third hour, especially, so if you're in the area, come on by! The food and soft drinks are free. If you're elsewhere, be sure to tune in! UPDATE: Hey, a time would be nice, wouldn't it? Sorry -- it's noon to 3 PM, Central Time. BUMP: It's today at...

Northern Alliance Streaming Again Today .... Only Better!

Our Northern Alliance Radio Network will be streaming again to the world this afternoon, noon to 3 PM CT, at this link (requires Microsoft IE). Northern Alliance Radio Streaming Today!

Don't forget that the Northern Alliance Radio Network (including yours truly) will be live-streaming our radio show today from noon to 3 pm CT. The link to the stream is on the left sidebar of my blog as well as at the Northern Alliance link and at the website of our local Salem affiliate, AM 1280 The Patriot. The stream is sponsored by the Taxpayer's League of Minnesota, which also just became a CQ sponsor. TPM has its own show at 9 am CT on Saturdays, so be sure to get into the stream right now and listen for David Strom's excellent commentary. I have a lot of e-mail off of the Alston stories that I will be weeding through in order to move the story forward later on today, hopefully. Keep checking back -- we have lots more information flowing in. I'm certain that we'll be talking Alston and...

Straight Into The Heart Of Darkness

Fellow Northern Alliance members Scott "Big Trunk" Johnson and John "Rocket Man" Hinderaker of Power Line perform a public service for Twin Cities residents in today's Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Since the Strib has decided not to cover questions regarding John Kerry's credibility in its news section, the Power-houses of the local blog scene have invaded their op-ed section instead: The story of his 1968 Christmas in Cambodia is one that Kerry has told on many occasions over the years. He invoked the story in 1979 in the course of his review of the movie "Apocalypse Now" for the Boston Herald. Most recently, Kerry told the story -- with remarkable embellishments involving a CIA man who gave him his favorite hat -- last year on separate occasions to reporters Laura Blumenfeld of the Washington Post and Michael Kranish of the Boston Globe. ... Over the past few weeks, the Christmas in Cambodia...

Michelle Malkin On The Northern Alliance Today!

The Northern Alliance will have Michelle Malkin as our special guest on today's edition. Be sure to tune us in at AM 1280 The Patriot, or on our live Internet stream!...

Northern Alliance Live At The State Fair!

If you haven't yet caught our Northern Alliance Radio Network show, today would be a great day to start! Not only will we be appearing live at the Minnesota State Fair, in front of throngs of our admirers (note: "throngs" = 7 or more, right?), but take a look at the guest list we have for today: Hugh Hewitt, Mike Nelson (MST3K fans, rejoice!), and James Lileks! You can listen on AM 1280 The Patriot if you're here in the Twin Cities, or on our live Internet stream sponsored by the Taxpayers League of Minnesota. (Make sure you enable pop-up windows in order to make the streaming software work.) What projects are on Mike Nelson's plate these days? What does James Lileks have to say about deep-fried sausages on a stick? Will Hugh Hewitt renege on his trivia-contest bet? Tune in from noon to 3 pm CT and find out!...

A Man Of Honor, And A New Steeler Fan?

We had a great time at our live appearance at the State Fair this afternoon, and having Hugh Hewitt and Mike Nelson as our guests attracted a large number of fans to our booth. Hopefully, all who came had just as much fun as we did. Speaking of Hugh, he ended the suspense and took his medicine, as you can see here: Being a gentleman, he offered to wear the hat during the entire half-hour appearance, but I gave way so he could wear a hockey helmet in order to answer questions from the Fair audience in his role of Minnesota State Hockey Commissioner. Unfortunately, the helmet didn't help him out much. Since Hugh kept his end of the bargain like the true gent he is, the First Mate and I donated $100 to Young Life, Hugh's favorite charity. This is a great organization and Hugh does a lot of...

Northern Alliance Back At The State Fair!

The Northern Alliance gang comes back to the Minnesota State Fair again today from noon to 3 pm, and this time we have some heavy-hitting guests! No, I'm not talking about the Los Angeles Dodgers, although that would be pretty darned good, too. I'm talking about Senator Norm Coleman and Congressman Mark Kennedy, two Minnesota politicians who have bright futures with the Republican party. You can catch us on the Internet stream at this link, but make sure you enable pop-up windows or the stream won't work. If you can make it to the Fair, be sure to hang around after the show. The Northern Alliance will have a blogger's party after the show (starting at 3:30) at the Beer Gardens. Like our Keegan's appearances, this is a non-partisan bloggers' event; we just want to hang with Upper Midwestern bloggers regardless of affiliation. If you come to the booth between...

Red-Letter Day At The Fair

We had a real treat today at the AM 1280 The Patriot booth today, or I should say, a whole series of treats. The Northern Alliance had a couple of terrific guests and afterwards got together with some great bloggers from the Minnesota Organization of Bloggers, or MOB. (That's a perfect nickname, by the way ...) Our first guest today was Senator Norm Coleman, who not only kept us well-informed about the election and his duties in Congress, but thoroughly captivated the large crowd that gathered in front of our booth. Senator Coleman talked at length about what's at stake in this election and reminded us that we need to stay active in order to get Minnesota to end its 32-year losing streak. He also revealed that he wants to add a blog to his website in order to facilitate communication with his constituents. Hey, Senator Coleman -- if you're...

Northern Alliance On The Air Again!

We'll be doing our fourth and final State Fair show today, from noon to 3 pm CT -- in other words, just a couple of minutes! Check us out on our Internet stream if you're not in the local area. We'll be talking homeland security, the election, and other great subjects....

The World's First Live-Audience Gang Live-Blog!

Tonight, the Northern Alliance makes history as we welcome our local bloggers to watch the last Presidential debate with us tonight at the Minneapolis Downtown Hilton. The event has been set up by AM 1280 The Patriot and is being sponsored by the Hilton and Wade Financial. We'll have free snacks, a cash bar, and wireless networking available, and several of the Northern Alliance will be on hand to live-blog and to hang out with our friends. Your friendly Captain will certainly be on hand, and check out the other NARN blogs to see who else will be there....

Take A Shot At Fisking Nick!

You've seen all of the Northern Alliance gang do it -- me, Mitch, King, the guys at Powerline -- and hell, the Fraters Libertas gang seems to live for it. Now you can join in the fun, too! Mitch Berg has started the first Fisk Nick Coleman contest at Shot In The Dark, giving his readers an opportunity to take their own shots at the man Minnesotans love to hate hate to read. How do you enter? It's easy: 1. Read Nick Coleman's latest column* (I haven't read it yet, but I'll wager it has something to do with the plight of the working stiff, the evil greed of Republicans, or how Nick Knows Stuff You Don't) 2. Pick one sentence or paragraph you feel desperately needs fisking 3. Leave your best fisking of that passage in a comment on Mitch's post. That's it, but get your entries in as...

Northern Alliance Guest Hosts The Hugh Hewitt Show Tonight!

The Northern Alliance Radio Network again hijacks the Hugh Hewitt radio show, starting from 5 pm CT. The Generalissimo will be on hand to shepherd us through, as long as we promise not to break all of the studio furniture. We think we may have some breaking news in the first hour, so be sure to tune us in right away. I plan on live-blogging the show, so keep checking back! 5:15 - Just finished the first segment, did a bit of poll review and took a call. We're coming up on a breaking campaign-finance story that you'll want to hear ... 5:19 - I keep getting e-mails about THK carrying beer at an event. Can someone tell me why this is such a problem? Has no one ever carried a couple of beers around for friends? ... 5:22 - A representative from the national College Republicans alleges connections between...

Power Line's Hindrocket Honored In Rocket Competition

My friend and Northern Alliance colleage John "Hindrocket" Hinderaker received a singular honor from a competitor at the prestigious G. Harry Stine Memorial Launch this year. Team Vatsaas has named their entry the Hindrocket, and even modeled the entry from John's icon on the website. Team Vatsaas engineers predict that the 54" rocket will go a half-mile on launch. Our justifiably proud friend writes on today's Power Line post: We are truly honored to have this high-performance rocket named after us. It's another indication, I think, of how far the blogosphere has come. I'll bet no one enters a rocket named after Dan Rather in the the G. Harry Stine competition. As the event is going on this weekend, we expect to see photos of the Hindrocket's launching and flight on Rick's site, and we'll pass them on when Rick posts them. We can't wait to see the pictures, but...

Northern Alliance Radio In For Hugh Hewitt Tonight!

Tonight, the Northern Alliance Radio Network fills in for Hugh Hewitt, who has the evening off. Make sure you tune in to hear Mitch, King, myself, and the other members of the NARN gang hijack Hugh's show from 5 pm - 8 pm CT tonight. If Hugh isn't on the air in your neighborhood, you can get the show on the Internet; check out Hugh's site for more details. Of course, tomorrow we will be on the air in the Twin Cities and on the Internet in our regular time period, 12-3 CT. Be sure to catch us then as well!...

Northern Alliance Team Takes The Sprirt Of America Challenge!

The Northern Alliance is proud to sponsor a team for the Spirit of America "Friends of Iraq" Challenge. SoA provides support and provisions for our fighting men and women in Iraq who want to help rebuild the country and create the kind of friendship with freedom-loving Iraqis that can transform the region. You can donate with the Northern Alliance team at this link. We're competing with other bloggers to raise more funds than any other team, and the NARN guys have targeted Jeff Jarvis for defeat. Jeff has his big team of media stars, while the Northern Alliance has ... er ... me. And Mitch. Yeah, we're a couple of great looking guys -- okay, I'm lying, we have faces made for radio. But we do have the movie-star looks of The Elder and Saint Paul at Fraters Libertas, the financial wizardry of King Banaian at SCSU Scholars, and...

Spirit Of America Update!

In just a few short hours since we started our challenge, we have raised over $4,000 in donations from Northern Alliance readers for the Spirit of America/Friends of Iraq Bloggers Challenge! Joining our team are a slew of blogfriends, including Bogus Gold, Pioneer Press columnist Craig Westover, Hobbs Online, Mad Anthony, Margaret and ol' what's-his-name at Our House, Peoples Republic Of Minnesota, and our mentor Hugh Hewitt. You can continue to donate at this link. So far, we're leaving Jeff Jarvis in our dust, but Jeff's a pretty sneaky competitor. I think he's waiting until we get overconfident and get arm-weary, like George Foreman at all-you-can eat night at Fuddruckers fighting Ali for the championship. Jeff's betting that his rope-a-dope will give him the title, but our readers are smarter than that! But just in case you're thinking about giving Jeff a hand, remember what I told you about...

Northern Alliance Roundtable On Ukraine Crisis
